History of Granaria Holdings BV

Beginning

Almelo, the Netherlands, October 1, 1912. The company soon moved to Rotterdam where it flourished and changed from a brokerage firm into a trading company subsequantly “Wylers Graanhandel N.V., N.V. Rotterdamsche Graanhandel and N.V. GRANARIA Graaninkoopmaatschappij".

The first years

The company became a leading supplier of grains to the Dutch compound food industry.

World War II

The company was seized by the occupiers. The Wyler family had to flee.

A new beginning

After the war Louis Wyler made a new start. From 1954 on assisted by his son Martin Wyler and nephew Sam Wyler.

Growing again

Granaria became a leading European grain and feed trading company with offices in the Netherlands, Europe, the USA and Asia. Granaria owned and operated several silos and oil seed crushing plants. Joel and Danny Wyler succeeded their father in 1982 and continued to expand the company which they decided to sell about 10 years later. Granaria then acquired a nut processing company which became the foremost nut and dried fruit processing company in Europe. This company, The Nut Company, was sold in 2002.

Present and Future

Today Granaria is an investment company, looking for further investments and opportunities.
